Atlantic salmon knowledge Forum

2023 EDITION

A look back on the last edition of the Forum

WHAT FUTURE FOR ATLANTIC SALMON?

The 2023 Forum aims to outline the main challenges (e.g., climate change, habitat fragmentation, forestry, invasive species, etc.) affecting Quebec’s salmon populations and to discuss conservation and management strategies that could help mitigate their effects. The forum also serves as an opportunity to identify possible future trends for salmon, including the potential northern extension of the salmon’s range due to climate warming. Thus, the 2023 Forum will lay the groundwork for a reflection on the priorities and possible actions for the conservation and restoration of salmon populations in Quebec in the context of global change, with the participation of stakeholders from many different backgrounds. Beyond the main topics of the 2023 edition, the forum will offer an array of presentations on various aspects of salmon biology and habitats.
