Forum des savoirs sur le saumon atlantique

A KEY EVENT IN THE SALMON WORLD

Created in 2022 following the merger of the CIRSA (Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur le saumon atlantique) and FQSA (Fédération québécoise pour le saumon atlantique) annual scientific symposia, the Forum des savoirs sur le saumon atlantique is a scientific event designed to promote the dissemination of knowledge and exchanges between the various sources of knowledge on salmon.

The Forum recognizes from the outset that academic knowledge derived from university research is not the only source of knowledge production on salmon. Aboriginal peoples possess knowledge and concerns essential to the integrative study of salmon, and the Forum wishes to recognize and foster the presence of this traditional knowledge. Historically, consulting firms, provincial and federal government departments, and NPOs have also played a major role in the development of practical knowledge about salmon. The Forum aims to make this practical knowledge more widely known by giving it its rightful place. Finally, since students are the driving force behind university research, and although their contributions can be associated with academic knowledge, the Forum has chosen to reserve a separate place for student knowledge in order to showcase it more effectively.

The forum's ambition is to give value to each of these types of knowledge, and to encourage exchange and collaboration between the communities from which this knowledge originates.
