A look back at the last Forum

WHAT FUTURE FOR ATLANTIC SALMON?

The aim of the 2023 Forum was to draw up a portrait of the main threats (e.g. climate change, habitat fragmentation, forestry, invasive species, etc.) to Quebec's salmon populations, and to discuss conservation and management practices that could help mitigate their effects. The forum also wished to identify possible future opportunities for salmon, including those linked to a possible northern extension of the salmon's distribution range favored by climate warming. In this way, the 2023 edition of the Forum set out to lay the foundations for reflection on priorities and possible actions for the conservation and restoration of Quebec's salmon populations in a changing world, with stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds. In addition to topics related to the main theme of the 2023 edition, the forum offered a wealth of presentations on various aspects of salmon biology and habitat.
